Vital Images and Toshiba Medical Systems’ (TYO:6502) American division secured a combined $198 million in separate supply deals with the U.S. Dept. of Defense.
Toshiba was the big winner, landing a $187.7 million, 5th-year extension to an existing contract. The Tustin, Calif.-based company will provide radiology systems, subsystems and components to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies. The extension, expected to be completed on Feb. 5th, 2015, is the 5th of a possible 7 single-year options.
Vital Images secured a $10 million contract with the DoD, also for radiology systems, subsystems and components. The Minnetonka, Minn.-based company was awarded the 3rd-year option of a possible 7. The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and federal civilian agencies will utilize the equipment, with an expected end date of Jan. 31, 2015, according to the daily DoD release.
