St. Jude Medical's patent review bid denied in FFR war with Volcano

A federal appeals court last week declined to overturn a U.S Patent & Trademark Office decision not to review a patent in the long-standing row over fractional flow reserve technology between St. Jude Medical and Volcano.

Endo Health posts Q1 loss on $830M AMS mesh settlement

Endo Health Solutions said it struck an $830 million deal to settle thousands of lawsuits over its American Medical Systems pelvic mesh products.
The deal would put some 20,000 product liability claims to rest with no admission of guilt, but it also pushed Endo into the red for the 1st quarter, the pharmaceutical and medical device maker said today. Read more
Masimo reverses whistleblowers' $5.4M reward

California patient monitoring systems maker Masimo posted a big boost to its bottom line after successfully reversing a $5.4 million reward to paid to pair of whistleblowers.
A California court last month vacated the award after Masimo won summary judgment to dismiss the lawsuit. The new ruling put a total of $8 million back in Masimo’s pocket, including the $5.4 million in damages and $2.6 million that the company had to pay its insurance carrier. Read more
