ArtVentive Medical Group Inc. inks an agreement with Northwest Clinical Research Group Inc. designed to ready the company for regulatory approvals.

ArtVentive Medical Group Inc. (OTC:AVTD) signed an agreement with Northwest Clinical Research Group Inc. to prepare for regulatory processes in the U.S. and abroad.

The deal provides for Woodinvill, Wash.-based NCRG to assist ArtVentive in building its quality systems and securing Food & Drug Administration and European CE Mark approvals.

Ohio business and elected leaders challenge a political TV ad from Gov. Ted Strickland that they say misrepresents Invacare Corp.'s outsourcing aims.

A group of northeast Ohio business leaders and elected officials objects to a TV ad from Gov. Ted Strickland that they say casts Invacare Corp. (NYSE:IVC) in a negative light for outsourcing jobs.

In a letter signed by 33 business executives and politicians, the group said it was "disappointing" that Strickland expressed "such politically centered criticisms" of a company that's an important part of the local economy, the Lorain Morning Journal reported.

New MedVentive chief growth officer Nancy Brown to head the company's sales, marketing and business development efforts.

MedVentive Inc. appointed Nancy Brown as chief growth officer.

Brown joined the Waltham, Mass.-based healthcare information technology provider from electronic medical records firm Athenahealth Inc. (NSDQ:ATHN) of neighboring Watertown, Mass.

Her new role includes heading MedVentive’s sales, marketing and business development as the company reconfigures its products to new U.S. healthcare legislation.

Varian opens Mumbai training center

Varian Medical Systems Inc. establishes its first training center in India.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. (NYSE:VAR) opened an equipment training center in Mumbai, India.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based radiotherapy equipment developer established the center to educate medical physicists and technologists who use the company's cancer treatment systems.

Varian equipped the facility with 16 workstations and a VERT training system from the radiotherapy training company VERTual Ltd. for treatment simulation.

Former Guidant chief Dollens quits Abiomed board

Former Giudant president and CEO Ronald Dollens walks away from the Danvers, Mass.-based heart pump maker's board of directors with one year left on his term.

Ronald Dollens, the former president and CEO of Guidant Corp., is walking away from his board seat at Abiomed Inc. (NSDQ: ABMD) with one year left on his term, according to documents filed with the federal Securities & Exchange Commission.

Dollens, who joined the board of the Danvers, Mass.-based heart pump maker in 2006, was set to have his board term expire in 2011, but evidently decided to step down before his term expired.

Medtronic vet guides Cameron Health

Warren Watson, a 30-year Medtronic Inc. employee with family connections to founder Earl Bakken, is at the helm of Cameron Health Inc. as it looks to develop a leadless defibrillator.

In mid-May, Cameron Health Inc. struck media gold when the New York Times and the New England Journal of Medicine both gave prominent coverage to the company's efforts to develop the medical device industry's first subcantaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator.

Not bad for a relatively unknown startup based in San Clemente, Calif.
