Premier strikes CRM deals with Medtronic, Boston Scientific, others

Premier awards cardiac rhythm management contracts to Boston Scientific, Biotronik, Medtronic and Oscor; HealthTrust hashes out a deal with Breg; and Nonin Medical's device will be used in 5 Polish hospitals.




Group purchasing organization Premier Healthcare Alliance struck a deal with 4 major players in the cardiac device market for several cardiac rhythm management device portfolios.

Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX), Biotronik, Medtronic (NYSE:MDT), and Oscor have all agreed to make certain CRM devices available to customers in the Premier network.

According to a prepared statement, the deal took effect on February 1 and will expand the variety of CRM therapies available to Premier members.

In a separate deal that also took effect on Feb.1, Premier inked out an agreement for various surgical supply instruments. The Charlotte, N.C.-based GPO has 2,700 member hospitals and 90,000 other patient sites.
