Microfluidics chairman Little to step down

Microfluidics International Corp. (OTC:MFLU) chairman James Little plans to step down at the end of the year.

The Newton, Mass.-based high-shear fluid processor maker said Little, who's served on the board since 1995 and has been chairman since 2007, will be replaced by George Uveges when he retires Dec. 31.

Microfluidics said Uveges, who was named to the board in 2005, is the founder and principal of the Tallwood Group, an angel investing firm. He's also on the board of Harvard Bioscience Inc. (NSDQ:HBIO) and director and treasurer of Operation A.B.L.E. of Greater Boston.

Microfluidics posted third-quarter net income of $425,000 on sales of $4.5 million during the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with a net loss of $1.1 million on sales of $3.5 million. That's a top-line surge of 27 percent.
