3. Sientra prices $75m IPO
Breast implant maker Sientra priced its initial public offering at $15 per share, saying it plans to issue 5 million shares for a total of $75 million.
Sientra, which also has designed implants for the buttocks, calf, pectoral region and face, has backers including Abingworth Bioventures, OrbiMed and Clarus Lifesciences. Read more
2. Report: Medical device prices declined 5% in August
Prices for the 10 most sought-after medical devices slid nearly 5% in August, compared with the same month last year, according to the Modern Healthcare / ECRI Institute technology price index.
The index tracks the total monthly spend on 10 “physician preference items” by hospitals and other provider organizations. Read more
1. Abbott buys into electrophysiology with $250m Topera acquisition
Abbott said that it’s buying into the electrophysiology business with a pair of acquisitions, a $250-million-plus deal for Topera Medical and another transaction for Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics and its ablation catheter.
The deal for Menlo Park, Calif.-based Topera and its cardiac arrhythmia mapping technology includes an unspecified amount pegged to “performance milestones,” Abbott said. Read more
