3. Conventus Orthopaedics wins FDA clearance for shoulder fracture fixation device
Conventus Orthopaedics gained FDA clearance for a device that helps repair shoulder fractures, and will pursue a “measured” U.S. market rollout in the weeks ahead, company officials said.
Minneapolis-based Conventus’ regulatory win comes 5 months after it raised a $24 million Series AA round last December. That money was slated, in part, to commercialize its FDA-cleared Conventus DRS device for distal fractures of the radius, and to propel research and development for its Proximal Humerus PH device for shoulders. 2. Medtronic licenses stent graft tech
Medtronic said it licensed patents from Sanford Health it plans to use to develop a new stent graft to treat thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms.
Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic said it plans to develop the system, which was described in the Journal of Vascular Surgery, based on a concept developed by Sanford Health vascular surgeon Dr. Patrick Kelly. The system is being studied under an FDA investigational device exemption, the company said. Read more

Partners HealthCare and Samsung Electronics are teaming up to develop digital and mobile solutions for chronic disease management.
