Switzerland-based LifeWatch received CE Mark approval to launch its LifeWatch V health smartphone platform in European Union.
The device allows consumers to self-operate embedded medical sensors, wellness-related applications, cloud-based services and 24/7 call center support. The sensors include ECG, body temperature, blood glucose, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, body fat percentage and stress analysis measurement, according to the press release.
"This is the 1st time in the company’s history that a multi-parameter device with 5 medical functions has been awarded the CE Mark", chairman Dr. Yacov Geva said in prepared remarks. "The approval demonstrates our capacity to develop and manufacture devices that meet commercial regulatory requirements not only in the U.S. but also in Europe and elsewhere".
The LifeWatch V wirelessly transmit the data from online servers so that users can track their health records and share the information with a health provider or family member. Patients can program LifeWatch V to remind them of their drug type, dose and intake time, the company said.
LifeWatch said the company would partner with some multi-national cell carriers, pharmaceutical and healthcare providers all over the world.
