Integra LifeSciences (NSDQ:IART) cut 49 jobs from its Massachusetts facilities late last year, according to a WARN notice filed with the Commonwealth.
The Plainsboro, N.J.-based medical device maker employs more than 3,300 employees worldwide and maintains a manufacturing and repair centers in Burlington, Mass.
Private companies are required to provide 60-day notice of plant closures or mass layoffs, as a result of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. WARN notices are public documents and available upon request from the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development for Massachusetts.
About 49 employees were laid off between December 5 and December 31, according to the notice.
In 2014, Integra announced that it had underataken "cost-saving initiatives to consolidate manufacturing and distribution facilities and transfer activities, implement a global enterprise resource planning system, eliminate duplicative positions, realign various sales and marketing activities, and to expand and upgrade production capacity for our regenerative medicine products."
Company officials wrote that the cost benefit of those initiatives would be recognized in 2015.
