Hansen Medical (NSDQ:HNSN) and Philips Healthcare (NYSE:PHG) proved to European regulators that their products for robotic surgery can work together in operating rooms, winning recognition for "certified compatibility" for their devices.

Hansen began the design integration of its Magellan Robotic System with Philip's Allure X-ray system in 2010, before Magellan had landed CE Mark or FDA clearance. Now, the 2 systems are cleared for use simultaneously, based on Article 12 of the E.U.'s Medical Device Directive.
