GPO colossus Novation inked four new supply deals with Mindray Medical, Barrier Product, Ferris Manufacturing and Spiracur Inc.
The Irving, Texas-based GPO giant’s deal with Mindray Medical International (NYSE:MR) supplies the more than 65,000 Novation members with the imaging company’s M7 and M5 ultrasound systems.
The 3-year contract with Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Spiracur includes the med-tech maker’s negative-pressure SNaP wound care system and SNaP Blue foam dressing kit.
Novation also announced deals with Barrier Product for its post-mortem infection control BioSeal Systems and Ferris Manufacturing for its PolyMem Polymeric Membrane wound dressings.
Hospital GPOs have been vocal about signing contract recently, perhaps in response to Medtronic Inc.’s (NYSE:MDT) headline-making, Wall Street-pleasing decision to cut several contracts worth an estimated $2 billion a year for its cardiovascular and orthopedic products with the Irving, Texas-based GPO in February.
"As demonstrated by these agreements, suppliers continue to find value in the Novation relationship," Novation VP of contract and program services Michael Vintges said in a press release in July. "Suppliers find that participating in our contracts provides increased brand awareness and market share through access to the members we serve."
