GE Healthcare lands EU approval for Vivid E9 ultrasound

Medical technology giant GE Healthcare (NYSE:GE) won European regulatory approval for the latest in its line of Vivid E9 ultrasound systems with XDclear technology.

The next-generation system with XDclear features enhanced image quality in 2D, 4D, color and Doppler, tools that can help with hard-to-image patients, including those who are obese.

"With the needs of the clinician and patient in mind, we continue to enhance overall image quality by developing new probe technology that allows for enhanced sensitivity and image acquisition with high resolution on even difficult to scan patients with the Vivid E9 with XDclear," GE Healthcare cardiovascular ultrasound general manager Al Lojewski said in prepared remarks.

Hard-to-scan patients take longer in the exam room, causing problems and anxiety for both patients and physicians. The newly approved Vivid E9 with XDclear can help "shorten exam time and enhance diagnostic confidence" for both adult and pediatric patients, GE said.
