Ethicon U.S. extended its partnership with Megadyne Medical Parts to include new electrosurgical products, according to a press announcement.
The new deal allows Megadyne to offer its customers the ENDOPATH Electrosurgery Probe Plus II Monopolar Electrosurgery line of products made by Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) subsidiary. Purchases can be made through Ethicon.
The ENDOPATH laparoscopy system combines electrosurgery tools with irrigation, featuring interchangeable handles and shafts that allow doctors to customize the tool ahead of a procedure. The device is also compatible with Megadyne’s Mega Power generator, the company said.
"The ENDOPATH Electrosurgery Probe Plus II fits perfectly into our complete offering of electrosurgical products and we are excited about the opportunity to add this high quality product to our portfolio," Megadyne CEO Robert Farnsworth said in prepared remarks. "Our companies share a common vision to advance surgery and improve patient outcomes through high quality standards, intuitive to use products and a customer solutions mindset."
Megadyne and Ethicon’s history isn’t very long, with a collaboration agreement announced in November 2013. The companies said at the time that they would combine their lines of monopolar and standard bipolar from Megadyne and advanced bipolar and ultrasonic energy from Ethicon to offer U.S. customers a broader line of options for energy-based surgical systems.
