Coopersurgical slaps Teleflex Medical with patent lawsuit over facial surgery tech

Teleflex's new suture closure device prompts Coopersurgical to sue for patent infringement.

Coopersurgical  (NSDQ:COO) sued Teleflex (NYSE:TFX)for patent infringement, alleging that TFX's EFx Endo Fascial Closure System violates its patent for an "Insertable suture grasping probe guide."

The Delware-based surgical instrumentation company's lawsuit accuses Teleflex of "deliberate and willful" manufacture and distribution of the patented closure device.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for Southern New York this month, seeks an immediate injunction against Teleflex barring further infringement, damages and triple damages for willful infringement and legal fees.
