Acelity said this week that it snared Gaurav Agarwal from Smith & Nephew (FTSE:SN, NYSE:SNN) to fill its newly created role of business & innovation president.
The new position calls for Agarwal to lead the strategic direction for all Acelity businesses, according to a press release.
"Gaurav has valuable insight into global markets for medical devices and a demonstrated track record of driving commercial performance throughout the world," president & CEO Joe Woody said in prepared remarks. "His expertise and commercial leadership experience, coupled with his strong background in innovation and product portfolio management, will make him a tremendous asset to Acelity as we look to 2015 and beyond."
Before his stint as Smith & Nephew’s orthopedic reconstruction president, Agarwal spent 15 years at GE Healthcare (NYSE:GE), where he was chief technology, quality, regulatory & strategy officer, according to the release.

ConMed retools executive suite
Speaking of ConMed, that company today announced the departure of 25-year veteran CFO Robert Smallish into retirement and said it promoted controller Luke Pomilio to be his replacement. The Utica, N.Y.-based company also said it named former Stryker Europe head Patrick Beyer as its international president, replacing international vice president John Hamilton, who is also retiring effective Feb. 28, 2015. ConMed also eliminated its commercial operations vice president position, meaning the departure of Joseph Darling.
