BETHEL, VT – GW Plastics has added two high-speed injection molding machines to their headquarters in Bethel, VT to support a major award of new business by a market-leading Fortune 500 customer. The significant capital investment in two new 240 ton high-speed Netstal molding machines and automation by GW Plastics further expands their capabilities in the high-volume disposable medical device market. This comes right on the heels of multimillion-dollar expansions in its Tucson, Arizona, and Dongguan, China facilities to support its growing medical device molding and contract assembly business.
“The competitive nature of the high-volume medical packaging market requires manufacturers capable of operating high-cavitation molds using reliable high-speed molding machines with automated inline production capabilities running at sub – seven second cycle times. Our commitment to invest in this technology resonates with our customers and supports our plans for future growth in the medical device and consumer packaging markets,” said John Silvia, GW Plastics VP Manufacturing Engineering/Bethel Plant Manager.
This new equipment purchase also means upgrades to GW Plastics’ Bethel, VT facility. The machines will operate in a Class 8 Cleanroom and the production cell will include the installation of high-speed robotics, part handling, end-of-arm tooling, automated packaging, and metrology equipment. The cleanroom will undergo several modifications in order to accommodate the equipment, facilitate part handling, and support the size and weight of the machines. GW Plastics expects to invest over $1,500,000 to support this program.
